Per previous posts, you know I am a talk radio nerd. Yes, we even traveled almost 2 hours to watch Glenn Beck (see the June 11, 2007 post). Well, Sunday Rett and I were on our way to Meijer and I, of course, had on talk radio. It was Motor Trend Weekly.
They were asking the question, "In 1999, what was voted the car of the millennium?" I knew it was one of two vehicles, the VW Bug or Model T. They gave an 1-800 number so Rett dialed fit or me. As I pulled into the Meijer parking lot, they answered, asked my first name and put me on hold. My ear to the phone and Rett's to the speaker in the Jeep, we listened.
The radio host said "And we have Tony, where are you from?"
I said "Richmond, Indiana."
He said, "Ah, the heartland." He then asked, "What was voted the car of the century in 1999?"
I said "The VW Beetle."
I was wrong. He said, "Oh sorry" and then there was an buzzer.
My brush with national stardom was over. I know this was a national show because the rest of the callers (I was the 2nd one by the way) were from all over the USA. The answer was the Model T by the way.
Speaking of Model T's, they only came in black. I have a black car, my 1969 Nova, pictured below (any excuse to post a picture, especially of a car).
Many of you may remember this Ride. It is my first car and I have had it since I was about 14.
Anyway, I hope everyone is having a good week. I am unwinding this evening after a long day which ended with a city council meeting, nothing too eventful. You can catch the re-run of my stellar performance at the meeting on WCTV Channel 11 if you are really bored. :)
Ok, I have bored you all to death and you will probably never read our blog again since I ramble about totally meaningless stuff....
Have a good week.

Since you wrote this blog, you were on Channel 2 6:00 p.m. news on Tuesday night.
You did a great job, of course!!
Love you,
Mom
I think you're posts are GREAT!! Who doesn't love showing off their car??? Keep up the great work!
I love you!
I enjoyed seeing the photo of the 'SuperNova.' (By the way, what ever happened to the 'Turd?') As I have mentioned before, I have fond memories of traveling back and forth to school, youth group, etc. in the back seat of that fine example of Chevrolet power, right in between two ginormous speakers blairring Girls Girls Girls by Motley Crue and thinking about that dreamy Greg Whited! hahaha Now, like you Tone, I've turned into a talk radio junkie and I cruise the streets of this fine county in a four door Pontiac listening to Glenn Beck and thinking about what I'm going to make for dinner! My, my, my...how times have changed! Thanks for the memory! Why not wheel up Webster-way in your Nova and take us for a spin!!
Kristy - the Turd was hauled to the great recycler last year (I held on as long as I could) and is enjoying eternity for good Chevys in Auto Heaven. What a sad day. It was a FUN car. (For those of you wondering, the Turd was a rusty brown Nova I drove back in High School so the black one could hibernate on rainy and snowy days.)
